Music of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens

  • Royal College of Music Prince Consort Road London, SW7 2BH United Kingdom (map)

7:30pm | 09 February 2016 | Inner Parry Room

Join RCM musicians, including Junior Fellows Magdalena Loth-Hill and Nathaniel Mander, for an evening of vocal and instrumental works inspired by the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.

Vauxhall Gardens ran for two centuries, developing from what was essentially a popular rural tavern with a garden, into a dynamic centre for the arts. Vauxhall was famous for its music and the Vauxhall musicians would perform not only the popular tunes and songs of the day, but also new pieces by major composers, including Handel and his contemporaries.
