Soirée Française

  • Handel House Museum 25 Brook St London, W1K 4HB United Kingdom (map)

Nathaniel Mander presents a decadent programme of the rich and vivid style from the last of the French harpsichordists, a long tradition that had lasted almost 200 years. The works of this period run the full gamut from the exquisitely crafted dances of the high baroque to the more fashionable gallant style which rapidly took over the musical world. The programme will include works by Duphly, Balbastre and Armand-Louis Couperin: all masters in their own right of this extraordinarily pleasurable style.
